Prescott Valley, AZ – The Arizona Sundogs were edged out tonight by Rapid City Rush in a 2-1 game at Tim's Toyota Center. Tonight was their annual Teddy Bear Toss, with the stuffed animals being donated to local charities in Northern Arizona.
Both teams remained scoreless throughout the first period until Rapid City's Jeff Lee lite the lamp with seven minutes left in the second period. Arizona went on the penalty kill twice in the second when Mario Larocque was called for hooking and Jason Morgan was assessed two minutes for tripping.
Entering the final period Rapid City held a two point lead over Arizona, who was 0-3 tonight on the power play. Rush scored their second goal of the night when Jarrett Konkle edged the puck past Arizona's Adam Russo's right glove. Pascal Morency tallied his first goal of the season and the first for the Sundogs tonight with a quick shot from the crease. Chad Langlais and Jeff Kyrzakos were both credited with the assists.
Russo made 31 saves tonight, while Rapid City's Tim Boron gloved down 18 shots and Rush was 0-2 on the power play. The Sundogs are 9-10-3 heading into their second match-up tomorrow against Rapid City when the puck drops at 7:05pm at Tim's Toyota Center.
