Tonight's the test of new Sundogs Head Coach David Lohrei, who will coach his first game at Tim's Toyota Center.
Noting that it's important to give the proper respect due to former Head Coach Marco Pietroniro and Assistant Coach Chris Bartolone who were both released this week, Brad Fain stated that it was a extremely difficult decision for the ownership group to make, but one they thought was necessary.
Fain pointed out that there is a championship banner hanging in the rafters, and it's largely due to the efforts of Pietroniro and Bartalone, "So, I think the guy deserves respect and dignity for what he has accomplished. I think it was just time for... our organization and him to take a different path. We wish Marco and Chris all the best, and we hope they find their direction where they want to go.And that they move on and everything works out well for them because we wish them the best. We have all the respect for those two gentlemen, they've been under a lot of pressure, and it just didn't work out... I just really want to stress to all of you in your reporting... give those two gentlemen the dignity and the respect they deserve because there is a banner hanging in the rafters, and there's not too many clubs that can say that, especially after six years."
Team Manager Chris Presson acknowledged the team did not have much "puck luck" this season, and said that he believed that affected the season. Nonetheless, he agreed that it was time for a change, and reached out to Lohrei, someone he has known for several years.
So, here's Head Coach Lohrei and his thoughts on the team as it stands, and where they have to go:
Chris Bartolone's position will not be filled this season.
