Day One at the YMCA National Gymnastic Competition

23 June 2010

Tuesday was the first day of the "YNationals", as gymnastics Coach John Sebastian calls it. Day 1 in San Diego with the YMCA Gymnastics Team.

seaworld_day1The YMCA National Gymnastic Competition Opening Ceremonies were held at Sea World. It was quite a sight to see over 5000 people gathered together for a gymnastics meet! Everyone gathered at the Shamu Stadium, to watch the teams parade into the arena. Prescott's team was first, since they were from Arizona.

Keynote speaker, Lindy Fordem-Donahue, a former YMCA gymnastics team member, and now a killer whale trainer, spoke of appreciation for support, believing in your dreams and working hard.

The Prescott team sat in front, where they got splashed quite a bit by the huge killer whales. Coach John Sebastian said his camera was soaked, but they had a great time.
