Freshmen Football: Badgers Manhandle Mohave 35-0

The Prescott Badgers freshmen football team remained undefeated by smothering the Mohave Thunderbirds 35-0 at Prescott High School yesterday.

The game was pretty much over after one quarter. The Badgers struck early on a 44 yard run by David Pearce. Following the two-point conversion by Christian Setter, the Badgers led 8-0.

On Prescott’s next possession, Setter bolted down the field for 60 yards and along with the extra point by Corey Huard, the Badgers led 15-0. The Badgers got the ball back quickly and Setter ran for his second touchdown on a 25 yard run, adding the extra point was Huard , and the lead grew to 22-0. Daniel Crandall closed out the scoring in the first quarter with a nine yard run, giving Prescott a commanding 28-0 lead.

Quarterback Juan Lopez connected on a 25 yard pass to Aaron Marquardt midway through the second quarter, and the Badgers led 35-0.

The Thunderbirds meanwhile could not establish anything as the Prescott defense was stingy all four quarters. The Badgers (3-0) will travel to Kingman next Wednesday for a game against the Bulldogs. Kickoff is at 6:00pm.
