Lady Badgers Fall in Close One

06 December 2012

It was a tough game for the Lady Badgers, as they played shorthanded Tuesday night.

The Lady Badgers were in a bit of a dilemma Tuesday night as they played the Campe Verde Cowboys. The Badgers were missing four key components to their team. Missing were Brette Anderson and Autumn Childers, both whom were injured in Saturdays win over Boulder Creek. The other two are McKenzie and Meghan Lain, both of them are in the PHS Band and are in Hawaii to perform in the Pearl Harbor Parade this Friday.

Even with the odds against them, the Lady Badgers put out a gutty effort in a 45-42 loss to the Lady Cowboys.

Prescott took the lead to start the game on a steal by Kendall Peterson and a layup along with a foul. She added the free throw to give the Lady Badgers a 3-0 lead. Prescott led by as many as 6 in the quarter, but a drive down the lane by Amanda Showers cut the lead to 4 after one. Both teams played evenly in the second and Prescott held onto that 4 point lead at the break.

The 3rd quarter Prescott opened up their biggest lead of the night at 5 when Jay Sneeden put on a sweet move with a reverse layup to give the Badgers a 26-21 lead with just over four minutes to play. Those would be the final points of the quarter. Sneeden shortly picked up a fourth foul which sent her to the bench.

The Lady Cowboys took control of the game by going on a 10-0 run in the final four minutes of the 3rd quarter. The Lady Badgers battled back and had the chance to tie the game in the final seconds but were unable to. Campe Verde remains unbeaten at (3-0), while Prescott drops to (5-3) and will play at Chino Valley tonight.
