The 2018 Roughrider softball season came to an abrupt halt on Saturday morning. YC fell to Central Arizona College, 3-2, in an elimination game of the NJCAA Region I Division I Playoffs. YC concludes the year with a 50-12 overall record and their second consecutive ACCAC Championship.
The Vaqueros scored all of their runs in the first two innings. Neither team could plate any runs until the sixth inning when Jaydee Boursaw hit her 60th career home run, a solo shot that cleared both Bill Valley Field fences. Later in the inning, Kylie Brown doubled to left center and Makea KIaluau drove her home with single.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Yavapai was able to get a runner on base but failed to plate the tying run.
Central Arizona advanced to the Region Championship game against Eastern Arizona College, however, the Gila Monsters captured the Region title and advance to the NJCAA World Series.
