Yavapai County residents can get rid of some unwanted items at no charge. The County Board of Supervisors and the Public Works Department are hosting a Community Cleanup in Black Canyon City. It’s open to all residents at no charge today, Friday and Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm. Items that will be accepted include household appliances, bagged trash, auto batteries, unmounted tires, furniture and yard trimmings. Items that won’t be accepted include loose trash, liquids, hazardous materials, cars and dead animals. This program is for residential use and commercial loads won’t be accepted. The Board of Supervisors is reminding residents now is the time to create defensible space around their homes. Cut away vegetation 5 to 30 feet from all structures. Remove all debris and dead vegetation from roofs, decks and ground around your home. All yard trimmings will be accepted at the Community Cleanup.
Road Delays on Carleton Street
Watch for delays on Carleton Street in Prescott and 6th Street in Cottonwood due to road work. City of Prescott crews will be testing and commissioning the newly installed water main along Carleton, from South Montezuma to South Cortez Streets. Crews are also installing new storm drain in that same area. South Montezuma is closed to northbound traffic between West Goodwin and West Aubrey Streets. West Carleton is also closed to through traffic between South Montezuma and South Cortez. Work hours are 7 am to 7 pm today and tomorrow. Meanwhile, Arizona Line Workers are installing new cable along 6th Street between Aspen Street and Brian Mickelsen Parkway for Cox Communications. Today and tomorrow, the southbound lane of 6th Street is closed. Drivers in the area can expect to see flaggers in the roadway directing traffic. This work is expected to take 2 days to complete.
