Campus Master Plan update.

The Yavapai College Governing Board meets at 1 tomorrow afternoon to consider a Campus Master Plan update. According to College Vice-President of Finance and Administrative Services Clint Ewell, the Master Plan process started in 2013. A Plan was developed and shared in community forums and approved by the College Governing Board late that year. Much has changed since then, with the Plan slowed from a 10 year to a 14 year time frame. In addition, the Plan had anticipated the need to renovate and expand one of the college buildings to support visual and performing arts programs. However, renovation of another building has resulted in a savings of more than 200 thousand dollars. Overall, the updated Plan will be reduced from 104 million dollars to 76 million. The Board meeting will be held on the Verde Campus on Black Hills Drive in Clarkdale.

ADOT working on road repairs in northern Arizona.

ADOT crews are doing some repair work on northern Arizona roadways that have suffered damage during last week’s winter storm. Crews have been laying asphalt over existing pavement to smooth rough sections of I-40 between Highway 93 and the town of Seligman and near the Town of Williams. In addition, maintenance workers have been patrolling stretches of highway to locate and fill any potholes, including I-40 near Highway 89 and Highway 89A from Sedona to a couple miles before the switchbacks.

No rain or snow in this weeks’ forecast

Phoenix meteorologist Mark O’Malley says the good news is rain or snow isn’t in this week’s forecast. O’Malley says temperatures will jump with above average temperatures. Meanwhile, improvements on Highway 89A between Sedona and Flagstaff are getting underway. 89A will be reduced to 1 lane on the 8 mile section between the Vista Point Overlook and JW Powell Boulevard intersection from 7:30 am to 4 this afternoon. The restriction will continue weekly until this fall.
