19 October 2016

Prescott College acknowledged as one of most environmentally responsible.

Watch for delays on Walker Road due to improvement work.  City of Prescott crews are installing new storm drain, rip rap and baskets for slope stabilization.  Work is taking place at the Walker and East Liese Drive intersection.  Crews are also installing new sidewalk and ramps in advance of paving the top lift of asphalt on Walker.  Work hours are 7 am to 6 pm today and tomorrow.   Meanwhile, road repaving is occurring on Smoke Tree Lane.  Crews are conducting milling operations where existing asphalt remains along Smoke Tree from Willow Creek Road to near Birchwood Cove.  Crews are also installing the first lift of new asphalt between Tabosa and Leah Lanes.  Work hours are 7 am to 6 pm today through Sunday.

Prescott College has been named one of the nation’s most environmentally responsible colleges.  That’s according to the Princeton Review, which has included Prescott College in its Guide to Green Colleges.  Princeton representatives say something that will ensure the school stays on the list next year is the announcement that it intends to source 100 percent of its annual electrical usage from renewable sources.  The choice to make the change to green sources builds on previous climate action, as Prescott College was one of the first participants in the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, which is the higher education protocol for reducing institutional and global greenhouse emissions. The Guide to Green Colleges is available online at
