Prescott Police Receives Two Grants from Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety

In October the Director of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety awarded two traffic safety grants to the Prescott Police Department. These two grants total $40,000 and will assist the Prescott Police Department to continue our traffic safety programs. By partnering with the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, grant funds will allow for specific details to increase enforcement of DUI laws along with enforcing speed and other traffic related issues in attempt to make our roadways safer. Additionally, grant funds will be utilized to educate the public regarding traffic issues and impaired driving laws and consequences. Two laser speed detection systems will also be purchased with grant funds.

During this grant period which occurs between October 1st 2019 and September 30th 2020, the Prescott Police department will conduct at least one enhanced DUI enforcement detail per month beginning in October. The Prescott Police Department will also conduct a minimum of eight speed and aggressive driver details at known problems areas throughout Prescott. By utilizing these awarded funds, we hope to provide valuable educational information, while enforcing laws which will assist in making our roadways safer and insuring everyone arrives safe at their intended destinations.

As always, the Prescott Police Department asks drivers to make responsible choices and to drive safely.
