Prescott Badminton Drops Home Finale 5-4

08 October 2019

Raiss & Holton win highlight for Badgers

The Prescott Badgers badminton team battled hard but came up short in a 5-4 setback to the Division II Northwest leader Horizon Huskies, in the final home match of the regular season.

The game of the afternoon was a doubles match between Prescott’s Nicole Raiss and Chanda Holton who won 2-0 by scores of 21-19 and the marathon win of 30-29.

Nicole Raiss said about the wild 30-29 win, “It was about playing through and not letting the other girls get into head. You just have to focus on your game.” About the four matches in the last six days and the loss today, Nicole said, “I think it consists of us being a little tired from the last three games  and having to comeback to play today. We didn’t get any practice time either.”

In regards to how the Badgers have played against some tough opponents over the past five days, Kailey Crockett said, “I think it was helpful in seeing what we can expect at state.”

Coach Bobbi Yoder said, “I am so proud of all of these young ladies for their efforts tonight. We gave ourselves a chance to pull this out coming out of singles tied 3-3 against a very tough Horizon team. They battled tonight but we came up one short of the win. They left it all out on that court tonight.”

Prescott will get a much deserved rest for the remainder of the week.

The Badgers (3-2) in the Northwest II Division and (9-3) overall, will close out the regular season on the road next week with games at Paradise Valley, (Monday) and North Canyon, (Thursday),both start at 4pm.
