Food, Music and Laughter at the Prescott Film Festival

Laughter, music, and wonderful smells wafted on the air of the beautiful Sculpture Garden. Friday’s event, Taste of Arizona, was another part of the Prescott Film Festival. Throughout the week, the film festival has offered several special events preceding the evening films with each event a unique experience. Taste of Arizona was no exception.

Guests enjoyed wine and other spirits offered by Arizona Stronghold, Chateau Tumbleweed, Granite Creek Vineyard, Page Springs Cellars, and Thumb Butte Distillery and food was catered by Lucky’s BBQ and Panera Bread.

The Ping Brothers, an acoustic country band entertained with a continuous offering of classic country music. It truly was an enjoyable event for guests who spent a lovely dinner hour relaxing, enjoying the beauty of the garden while sampling tasty beverages and flavorful dinners.

Following Taste of Arizona, guests and general public made their way into Yavapai College’s Performing Arts Center to watch the evening film. The General, a silent film originally produced in 1926, is a wonderful story starring Buster Keaton, Marion Mack, and Glen Cavender, set in the Civil War. True to his style of film, Buster Keaton shined, producing movie magic as only he can do. The Mont Alto Silent Film Orchestra provided live accompaniment to give movie goers a truly unique experience of a class silent film. Before The General was shown, the audience was treated to a surprise, a short Laurel and Hardy film, Wrong Again.

Friday night’s event was wonderful! Now that I have had the opportunity to experience several nights at the Prescott Film Festival, I cannot wait to see what interesting events will be offered next year.
