Pickleball Tournament This Weekend

10 September 2018

It’s time for the Prescott Pickleball Tournament!

The Prescott Mile High Matchup Pickleball Tournament will be held this coming Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  "There is no entrance fee for visitors and all are welcome," according to Peg Travers, President of the Prescott Pickleball Association.

Friday: Women’s Doubles
Saturday: Men’s Doubles
Sunday: Mixed Doubles

The Mile High Matchup event is expected to bring in players from all over Arizona, California, Oregon, and Colorado.

"Pickleball is the fastest growing amateur sport in the US," Travers said, noting that, "The City of Prescott estimated that the 2017 tournaments brought in about $240,000 in tourism dollars."
In 2016, the Prescott Pickleball Association approached the City of Prescott, offering to help raise funds for new Pickleball courts. Their organization raised nearly $150,000 towards the project. The July, 2017 Pickleball Round Up Tournament was the very first tournament on the brand-new Pickleball Courts at Pioneer Park. The courts were officially dedicated later in September of 2017.
