Woman Sentenced To Prison For Murder in 2002 Cold Case

Today, Jane Carpenter, 65, was sentenced to Life in the Arizona Department of Corrections, with the possibility of parole after serving 25 years, by the Honorable Jennifer Campbell of the Yavapai County Superior Court.

On Friday, February 12, 2016, a Yavapai County Jury found Carpenter guilty of First Degree Murder for the murder of her husband on June 4, 2002.

On that date, Brent Carpenter, 71, a retired commercial artist, was found stabbed and beaten to death in their shared home located at the 4000 block of Prairie Trail in the Yavapai Hills development. Considered a “cold case,” Prescott police investigators worked with Indiana State Police in 2012 to locate Carpenter and charge her with the murder.

Carpenter was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $2,313.52
