As your father ages, the way in which you celebrate Father’s Day will undoubtedly evolve, especially as his physical and mental abilities may change. Home Care Assistance of Prescott would like to suggest some fun activities that you and your Dad (and the rest of the family) can do together this Father’s Day:
Enjoy a Comedy
If your Dad enjoys comedies, purchase tickets to “Noises Off” at the Prescott Center for the Arts. Called the funniest farce ever written. Doors slamming and on and offstage intrigue figure in the plot of this hilarious and classically comic play. Matinees are at 2pm on Saturday (6/17) and Sunday (6/18). Evening performances are at 7:30pm on 6/17, 6/18 and 6/19.
Help Out Around the House
If your dad has limited mobility, ask if he needs help with any chores around the house. Offer to clean out the garage, trim the hedges, do some weeding, or even wash his car. Your dad will appreciate the help and the company!
Have a Barbeque
Let dad relax with his favorite beverage while you fire up the grill. Barbeque his favorite foods while the two of you reminisce about old memories and adventures you shared over the past decades. Our Heirloom Tomato Salad pairs perfectly with grilled meat and garlic bread.
Go Wine Tasting
If dad enjoys wine, treat him to a tasting at Granite Creek Vineyards in Chino Valley or at the Superstition Meadery in downtown Prescott. Follow-up the wine tasting with lunch or dinner for the perfect Father’s Day outing.
Celebrate with Grandchildren
Those homemade arts and crafts projects that your little ones give you to celebrate special occasions are an even bigger hit with grandparents. At Free Kids Crafts, you’ll find hundreds of ideas with a list of supplies, instructions and images.
Listen to Live Music
Prescott’s 2017 Summer Concert Series on the historic Courthouse Square has free entertainment from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday nights are reserved for Jazz which has become a Prescott tradition. The Prescott Idol karaoke competition shares Thursdays with the Central Arizona Concert Band performing on the third Thursday of each month. Fridays you’ll enjoy various genres including New Orleans Funk, Rock, Blues & Country.
To make Father’s Day memorable and fun, make sure you don’t wear Dad out; give him a chance to lie down and rest or relax if he needs to throughout the day.
If you notice during your visit that dad might not be moving around as well as he used to or is struggling to perform certain tasks or activities that he typically handles with ease, consider contacting Home Care Assistance of Prescott and scheduling a free consultation with a Home Care Assistance Care Manager.
On behalf of everyone at Home Care Assistance of Prescott, Happy Father’s Day to all of the wonderful dads!
