LunaFest will be presented at the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 16th, 3:30pm. Tickets are $12, and available at the door or on-line atprescottfilmfestival.com.
This is the 15th year for LunaFest, a traveling presentation of short films for, by and about women. This is the first year the Prescott Film Festival is presenting the event in partnerships with the Women's Empowerment Breakthrough, (WEB) whose home is at Prescott College. WEB director Courtney Osterfelt says, "LunaFest is such an amazing fit as a fundraiser for WEB, by highlighting the voices and artistry of female filmmakers around the world we help connect people to the fact that women's issues are still relevant and important for communities to address."
Funds from the screening will benefit the WEB Conference and the Prescott Film Festival. The WEB Conference is a three-day retreat that draws 50-70 middle and high school girls each year.
Helen Stephenson, Executive Director of the Prescott Film Festival (PFF) notes, "The PFF audience is very supportive of short films in general and we feel they will want to come support; not only the fest, but also these teen girls. It's a great fit!"
Osterfelt says, "We are thrilled to partner with the Prescott Film Festival for the first time in offering LunaFest. WEB has a big following that will now be exposed to the amazing organization that is the Prescott Film Festival and the community of The Prescott Film Festival will get to be exposed to the life changing work WEB does for teenage girls. It's a win win for all!”
