4 Shows scheduled at Ruth Street Theatre

The Prescott High School Drama Department will be performing Footloose-The Musical in the Ruth Street Theatre at Prescott High School beginning tonight at 7pm. Three other shows are scheduled with one Friday night at 7pm, and two performances on Saturday, at 2pm and 7pm. Tickets are just $10 for adults and $8 for students.

The original movie starring Kevin Bacon came out in 1984. The title song by Kenny loggins was on the top of the charts that year. Now it is Isaiah Carman plays the lead role as Ren, the character (Kevin Bacon) portrayed back in the day. Kirsten Cordova plays the pastor's daughter Ariel (Lori Singer), the teenage girl who has an abusive jealous boyfriend Chuck Cranston, played by Ben Minkler (Jim Youngs). Reverend Moore is played by Grant Routson and Mrs. Moore is played by Judah Neese. The rest of the cast is Aly Warren is Rusty, Angus McDonald is Willard Hewitt, Makenna Gallus is Ethel McCormack, Amie Cunningham is Wendy Jo, Karli Fish is Urleen, Jaiden Whitwell is Aunt Lulu, Anthony Moore Jr. is Uncle Wes, Brian Van Vorst is Coach Dunbar, Kate Burk is Eleanor Dunbar, Aranda Dutra is Lyle, Mikaila Pierzchajlo is Travis, Ariel Cunningham is The Principal, Haley Crumpler is Betty Blast, Josh Sherman is Jeter, Cassidy Swearingen is Garvin, Kira Weathersby is a cowgirl, Tabitha is a member of the Town Council. The cast is also part of the ensemble which also includes Sarah Finnerty, Annie Bhaka, and Halle Contreras.

Productions like this take dedication by so many including the acorts, but behind the scenes there is Director Layla Tenney, Musical Director Erin Sobo, Choreographer Dori Harnly-Allwein, and Stage Manager Ashlyn Braithwaite.  The largest prop is an impressive 16-foot bridge, that at any given time has up to 10 actors on it.

I have to say that my sneak peek saw a very impressive group of young, talented, and dedicated actors. They have put in many hours, and it shows. I highly suggest you spend and evening, or Saturday afternoon, and treat yourself to a fantastic show.

The Ruth Street Theatre is at 1050 N. Ruth Street on the campus of Prescott High School. Parking is free.
