Weather: Spring Has Sprung

31 March 2020

Enjoy this time of Springtime now.

Spring is here! Time to wax lyrical.

“The spring is sprung, the grass is riz,

I wonder where the birdie is” (probably inside the cat).

Seriously, we have a wonderful mild spring week in store, with just a few wee breezes.

Weather Forecast:

Today will be sunny with northwest breezes and highs in the low-mid 60s. For the rest of the week, expect mostly sunny with highs in the low 70s and southerly winds. These will gust in excess of 20 kts on Wednesday and Thursday.

Additional notes for the weather nuts out there:

Are there any links between coronavirus and the weather?

Firstly, it is likely that coronavirus could make weather forecasts slightly less accurate, as explained here. This is because there has been a reduction in the number of the commercial flights that routinely collect weather data.

How weather impacts coronavirus is still not clear. Preliminary studies suggest that the spread of coronavirus is reduced in warmer and more humid conditions. See here.
