Weather Discussion:

Continued dry and seasonable weather this week, except for a 30% chance of thunder showers on Tuesday night and Wednesday as a weak trough traverses the state. These showers will be mostly to our east, however. Highs most days will be in the low seventies, with light winds.

Additional notes for the weather nuts out there:

October was dry over the southwest (see, but wetter than normal in the eastern half of the USA. This was because of a persistent upper trough over the middle of the country (see This placed Arizona under northwest flow aloft, which results in sinking motion in the atmosphere and drier air. To the east of this trough, rising air and Gulf moisture resulted in wetter conditions. Precipitation can only occur when the air is rising, and rising air is most common east of upper troughs.

Last week’s cold snap brought the thermometer down to 11F at ERAU on Halloween morning. See

Have another wonderful week,
