Lady Eagles start their season with a ‘W’!

PRESCOTT, Ariz. – After an unforeseen five hour delay, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) women's soccer got their season started on the right foot against The Master's University, thanks to Lauren Foster (FR/Chino Valley, Ariz.)'s early first half goal which was all they needed to secure the 1-0 victory.

Not only did Foster get the start in the midfield in her first collegiate game, the Chino Valley native provided a spark right from the whistle. Just five minutes after kick off, Megan Currier (SR/Anchorage, Alaska) sent a ball towards Sierra Vicente (SO/Las Vegas, Nev.) at the top of the box. Foster darted towards the penalty spot where she got to the ball before her defender and poked it past the keeper.

From the sixth minute on, there was not a whole lot of action in the first half. No. 10 ERAU (1-0) managed to launch a few long shots towards the Mustangs' (2-1) net but they were not enough to get by the keeper.

Just like in the first half, there was excitement  early on in the second as the Eagles conceded a penalty kick in the second minute of play. Caitlyn Aaron (SR/Flower Mound, Texas) needed to be great and she was! She stopped the tough shot and was able to get it towardsParker Lee (SR/Kennewick, Wash.) so that it could be cleaered before another shot was taken.

TMU controlled the run of play in the second half pushing numbers forward and even bringing their keeper well off her line. The Eagles had a golden chance to secure the win when a ball from the right side was slipped through to Vicente who had a one on one with the keeper. Vicente would try to beat her to her left but the shot was saved by a panicked right hand.

ERAU continued to hold their line for the rest of the half and was able to come out with the program's first victory over TMU. Aaron adds to her record for career shutouts with her 26th of her illustrious career in Prescott.

ERAU will be back on Varsity Field this Saturday (Aug 24) when they take on Oregon Tech at 7:00 p.m. MST.
