A Few More Days of Warm Weather On the Horizon

06 February 2018   Dr. Curtis James

Warm weather continues.

Forecast Discussion:

A large ridge of high pressure will continue to dominate the weather pattern through Saturday. Therefore, expect continued sunny skies and much warmer-than-normal temperatures, although overnight lows will remain near freezing. There will be a weak shortwave trough moving through the ridge on Tuesday, bringing some slight cooling and breezes, but otherwise, should be dry through Saturday.

For Sunday – Tuesday of next week, the forecast model solutions are in considerable disagreement, indicating a good deal of uncertainty. However, some of the forecast solutions indicate the possibility of two back-to-back low pressure systems affecting the Southwest from Sunday – Monday then again Monday – Tuesday. We could therefore see some rain showers or possibly wet snow showers early next week. Stay tuned for details as we await the forecasts to converge. For now, I am indicating a slight chance of precipitation, but will send a revision to the forecast if it turns into a more impactful weather event.
