PRESCOTT, ARIZONA (June 6, 2017). Three Prescott area hotels have recently joined the Clean the World soap recycling program, a hospitality industry program made up of over 4500 hotel and resort partners from around the world. Residence Inn by Marriott in Prescott joined the program in April 2017 to test it out, then rolled it out in May to the other hotels in their portfolio, SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Quality Inn by Choice. All three hotels are operated by Ponderosa Hotel Management Services, LLC of Prescott.
Clean the World is a social enterprise with the mission of saving millions of lives globally by distributing recycled soap and hygiene products to children and families in countries with high death rates due to pneumonia and cholera. Since 2009, Clean the World has distributed more than 40 million bars of soaps in 115 countries.
Hospitality partners collect discarded soap and plastic amenity bottles and place into dedicated Clean the World packaging to ship to the nearest recycling operations center. The nearest center to Prescott is in Las Vegas Nevada, with additional centers in Orlando and Hong Kong. Each shipment that comes into the center triggers another empty box sent to the hotel property.
“The program is very affordable and easy to execute”, says Holli Maurer, Vice President of Operations for Ponderosa Hotel Management. “We are even able to ship them the full size soap and shampoo that guests purchase and leave behind. We all feel really good about partnering with this program that has a global reach for such a good cause.”
Pneumonia and cholera are two of the top killers of children under 5 and hand washing significantly reduces the impact of these two fatal diseases. Clean the Worlds’ recycling process, which is tested by a Florida state-certified testing facility, removes all pathogens and gives the soap a guaranteed clean bill of health.
Margo Christensen, Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations states, “When the Clean the World sales representative contacted me a few months ago, it immediately caught my attention since we are always looking for new ways to reduce waste and preserve the environment. This compliments our current and ongoing recycling efforts perfectly.”
