Quad City Wrestlers Place at State

Chino Valley wrestler Keller Rock placed the highest, taking 3rd place.

The Prescott Valley Event Center was full for the AIA State Wrestling Championships that took place this weekend. Schools and families from all over Arizona came to determine the best of the best in high school wrestlers. 

Three of the six wrestlers from Chino Valley High School placed at State, with Keller Rock taking 3rd, placing the highest of all wrestlers from the Quad City area. 

Prescott High School sent four wrestlers, with three placing 5th. 

Division 2 team Bradshaw Mountain High School sent two wrestlers, Parker Hines (170) and Daniel Medevielle (182). Neither Hines or Medevielle advanced past the Consolation round. 

Division 3 teams Chino Valley High School and Prescott High School also sent several wrestlers to the State Championships. 

Chino Valley High School

Wade Payne (120) advanced through three rounds before being eliminated.
Cody Jasper (126) placed 6th. 
JC Mortensen (138) placed 5th, pinning Rene Garcia (Canyon Del Oro) to win his final match.

Kyle Lund (145) did not place, although he contributed 7 points to the overall team score. 
Keller Rock (160) placed 3rd, pinning Roper Howard from Show Low in his final match. 
Tyler Plumb did not place, and was eliminated due to an injury in his second match. 

Prescott High School

Colton Tomitz (120) placed 5th, winning in sudden victory over Kyle Ramirez from Sunrise Mountain. 
Lincoln Eby (126) did not place.
Koby Coates (152) placed 5th, pinning Bobby Ramirez from Sunrise Mountain in 32 seconds for his final match.
Gavin Nelson (285) placed 5th, winning by an injury default over Josiah Winans.
